First Look at 2020's New Cars

New Cars 2020

Car manufacturers are coming up with all sorts of schemes to get customers in their showrooms. That includes new cars for old scrappage incentives, fancy special editions and simply boosting the fuel consumption of their engines. Here are the details.

Mazda’s Scrappage Incentive

Mazda customers can now save up to £4,000 off any brand new model when they trade in their previous car under the Mazda Scrappage Scheme Upgrade Plan. Available for new cars registered by 31 March 2020, the scheme gives buyers the chance to exchange any petrol or diesel car registered before 31 December 2011 for a new Mazda.

In particular this includes All-new Mazda CX-30 included on the Scrappage Incentive for the first time with a £3,000 saving on the starting price of £22,670. Featuring Mazda’s revolutionary Spark Controlled Compression Ignition (SPCCI) technology and Mazda M Hybrid mild hybrid system, the 2.0 litre, four-cylinder Skyactiv-X engine and front wheel, rather than heavier four-wheel drive. This gives customers outstanding fuel economy and low CO2 emissions. That’s important when it comes to paying tax and also the ability to drive into Ultra Low Emission Zone.

Here is a current model, which may future proof you against the worst of what’s to come in vehicle ownership.

New Distinctive SEAT SUV Colourways

Sports Utility Vehicles won’t go away and why should they? The thing is, manufacturers have to make their SUV products more distinctive and appealing. Sometimes it simply takes a colour change.

SEAT has launched a special edition Ateca FR Black Edition.  Based on the FR Sport, it is rather more black on the outside. With gloss black door mirrors, window and grille surrounds, roof rails, black exterior finishers and mouldings, as well as 19-inch 'Exclusive' machined gloss black alloy wheels. Even inside, the seats are upholstered in black leather.

Having said that though it is not only available in Crystal Black, you can also bag yourself one in Nevada White, Velvet Red and Rhodium Grey. The  Ateca FR Black Edition is priced between £28,845 and £35,180.

Vauxhall’s Revamped Family Car

Vauxhall’s big family car in the shape of the Insignia has been revamped. It now consumes up to 18% less fuel than outgoing model thanks to all-new engine family. Not only that there are also low-friction gearboxes.

Also, bringing back memories of the great old Omega and Carlton models, a new top-of-the-range GSi model joins the range with a price of £42,520. It comes with lots of equipment and we won’t bore you with a list, but these deprecate like bricks dropped off a cliff. So we recommend leaving your purchase at least six months after it has been registered, especially if you are going to spend your own money.

As ever the new car choice is broad and always worth investigating further. However, never rely on a scrappage incentive, spiffy colour, or new engine to convince you on paper, always drive the new car. Make sure your family fits and that your dog is happy in the back. Always remember that shopping for cars should be fun.
